About Me

Autographed Cake Boss Chef Jacket I won in 2010.
Hi, my name is Jenna, and since a young age I have loved baking. I was born with an anaphylaxis (deadly) allergy to all dairy and nut products. It was always difficult for me to eat desserts and once old enough, I starting baking my own using non-dairy/egg/nut ingredients. Today I bake all my desserts without dairy and nuts, and some without eggs. I cook in an allergy free environment.
In 2008, I graduated from Rutgers School of Engineering with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and began my career as an independent consultant for pharmaceutical and medical device companies. In 2010 I was laid off and decided to take cake decorating classes to kill time while looking for a new position. Since then, I have continued to decorate and has even amazed myself with my talent!
With every cake being my first attempt at a new design, I push myself to try all different cake decorating techniques … the sky is the limit! In the past year I have won First Place at the Garden State Cake Show 2011, Category: Beginner, Show Theme; First Place in Ethicon’s Christmas Cookie Contest, Category: Winter Spirit; and First Place in Ethicon’s Breast Cancer Awareness Bakeoff.
Besides making specialty cakes, I also teach classes and host baking parties for children and adults. I teach everything from beginner basic skills such as how to ice a cake to advance modeling techniques. Lastly, I hosts baking parties for birthdays, bridal showers, baby showers, and any other special occasion. Please contact me with any ideas at powderedsugarcake@gmail.com.
